Louise putman
I am a fully qualified architectural interior designer.
I help you understand and appreciate how the space within your property could be better utilised to suit your lifestyle.
By challenging how the space is used and offering solutions, which you may not have previously considered, I can change the balance of your property for the better and ultimately improve your everyday wellbeing.
I love working closely with my clients to realise timeless, understated design projects.
I offer a complete personalised service and only take on a limited number of projects at a time to ensure my clients receive an exclusive service.
Beyond interior design
The service I offer my consultancy, REcreate, crosses the boundaries of traditional design specialisms such as architecture, interior design and service design.
I combine my architectural knowledge with interior design expertise and project management to design or renovate internal spaces.
The scope of my work can include structural alterations, fixed finishes, fixtures and fittings, lighting and colour schemes.
My background
I have a BA(Hons) degree in Interior Architecture and Furniture, from Middlesex University, London.
I also studied interior, furniture and product design at L’ENSCI Les Atelier in Paris, with world renowned designer Philippe Starck.
My career has spanned spatial design at the BBC in TV set design, interior design consultancy at several leading multi-disciplinary architectural design consultancies in London, heading up a design team at multinational property consultancy Cushman & Wakefield and launching REcreate.
My style is your style
I work hard to ensure that the interior spaces I create reflect the personality and style of my clients.
They showcase clients’ personal objects and enrich the architecture of the space they live in.
That said, I like to create relaxed interiors with a mix of mid-century, classic, simple Scandi designs and contemporary styles.
I steer clear of brash or overly designed spaces, preferring a look of simplicity and understated luxury which will stand the test of time.
How I work
I understand that undertaking an interior construction project can be an intimidating prospect.
I work to dispel any fears and concerns from our very first meeting.
It is important to recognise that all projects, regardless of size, follow the same staged process, which needs to be followed and managed.
Attempting to jump ahead to the more satisfying stages of product, furniture and finishes selection will ultimately result in problems as the fundamentals of a project will not have been addressed.
I take my clients through a staged process which is based on a simplified version of the RIBA Design Stages used in commercial projects.
Personalised service you can trust
I offer a complete personalised service and only take on a limited number of projects at a time to ensure my clients receive an exclusive service.
My hours are flexible and my design services are tailored to suit varying budgets on a project by project basis.
Initial meetings on site at your property are free of charge and carry no obligation to proceed.
I do not add on a handling arrangement fee, instead I pass on trade discounts to you as my client and these savings can be offset against my fees.
This ensures I remain completely impartial when recommending trades and specifying products.
