The Knowle Luxury B&B, St Leonards

THE PROJECT

Full refurbishment of a large 6 bedroom detatched 1930’s villa near the sea in St Leonards, East Sussex.  Spatial changes to the first floor were required to accomodate 3 large luxury kingsize bedrooms with ensuites for a new boutique Bed & Breakfast business.

The renovation included retaining as many original features as possible including restoration of the original plaster cornicing, high skirting boards, panel doors, pine floorboards and fireplaces. In addition, complete rewiring and replumbing works were undertaken  throughout including installation of new underfloor heating to the new bathrooms and kitchen.

The design ensured the comfortable accomodation of superking size beds and power showers as well as a renovated dining room for the serving of homegrown and organic breakfasts and a cosy sitting room for guests.

Additionally the brief included provision of a new treatment room for professional reflexology treatments.

Works on site took place for the duration of 2021 through various tiered lockdowns and building material supply issues and yet what has been achieved has been quite remarkable.

The Knowle at St Leonards Bed & Breakfast will be open for business from February 2022.

A word from the client...

"Special thanks to Louise from REcreate Interiors for her architectural input, decor insights and advice, she helped to add that wow factor we wanted and that the house deserved. Louise brought organisation and professionalism to the project which meant that decisions were made with confidence and everything was decided, documented or at hand before the builders needed it. As she has a selection of quality, reliable and trusted suppliers this helped everything to go relatively smoothly considering we undertook the build during lockdown when there were serious supply and delivery issues with materials, fixtures and fittings. We really appreciated her grounded, honest and straight forward approach to her work. The project was far bigger than we initially anticipated and from the outset Louise steered us away from what we realised would have been some critical poor decisions and frankly we’re not sure we could have pulled it off without her support."
